One of my favourite moments each day is the time I spend alone in the comfort of my room. Just me and maybe the Tv. It may sound weird but it is infact my best time of the day. Locked away in obscurity from all the hustle and noise, from the distractions of the day and worries of life. Every day, I look forward to that precious alone time where I can just lay in bed and collect myself. A time to be still. A time to get a breather…
I love solitude. Now, don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the company of family, friends and colleagues but finding time for Lolade every now and then is equally as important. That’s when I can think, that’s when I can meditate, that’s when I can pray and in that moment I can also plan my next move. I think everyone needs that time. Sometimes,we get so caught up in our daily struggles and it’s so easy to get lost in it all. We are hung up on how to survive our harsh environment, the hustle and bustle of each day, life’s challenges, responsibilities and the likes that we hardly find time for ourselves. You will be amazed at the wonders some alone time can do even to help retain your sanity especially if like me you live in a crazy place like Lagos.
That me time where I can block out the frustration of not meeting some crazy target, queueing endlessly for hoarded fuel, or cursing out a danfo driver who suddenly cut me off my own lane. There I can rest, there I can unwind, there I can be all I want to be.
A good post I must say lolo. I guess we all need that “me,myself and I” time alone at d end of d day to reflect, unburden d heart and maintain sanity.
I totally agree Bibi. We all need it. cheers!

Wow! Lolade this is a brilliant piece. Your piece is short, simple, straight forward and interesting. It passes the info. right away. Solitude is needed in life. It can make you grow as a person. There are too many distractions today especially working. Work life in Lagos doesn’t make you even remember you have a family, how much less yourself. I know of someone who had a two week leave and guess where she spent it? London. She said she needed to get away from Lagos and Nigeria. She needed rest and piece of mind. Its not easy to have solitude these days but any opportunity we have, we should make use of it to relax and reflect on our lives.
Thanks Kunle, I couldn’t have put it better myself. You just hit the nail on the head.
